Daniel Plan 2/13/17: Keep Asking and Trusting

Hello to all!

I hope you had a great weekend. Just a quick thought on eating out. Today I went to my new favorite Mexican Restaurant beachside, Fiesta Jalisco. For those of you who are locals, it's in front of the Lowes plaza in Indian Harbor Beach. I ordered lunch fajitas and had them substitute Mexican coleslaw for the beans and rice. Not only was it in line with the Daniel Plan plate, but it was so so good. Try them out if you get a chance.

I wanted to talk some more about prayer and the power of faith. There is a prayer suggested in the book and when I teach this class live I start each session with it, so here it is:

Dear God, thank you for creating me and loving me so that I can have a relationship with you. Thank you for understanding the frustration I have felt in failing to change things in myself that need changing. I realize that without your help I am powerless to change my deepest habits, hurts, and hang-ups. I need a Savior and I thank you for sending Jesus to die on the cross for me.

Jesus, I need your presence, your power and your purpose in my life. I want to turn from my plans to your plan, and from depending on my power to your power. From now on, I want you to be the Lord and manager of my life. In faith, I humbly ask you to forgive my sins and my failures and help me to become what you intended for me to be. For the rest of my life, I want to get to know you better so I can trust you more.

I pray this in your name. Amen.
— The Daniel Plan: 40 Days to a Healthier Life

Where does faith come from? From knowing the Word of God and respecting His power to transform us. The Bible tells us:

Faith comes by hearing the message and the message is heard through the word of Christ.
— Romans 10:17

So we need to know what the words of Christ are.

When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. “Lord,” he said “my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering.” Jesus said to him “I will go and heal him.” The centurion replied “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word and my servant will be healed. For I, myself, am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one “go” and he goes, and that one “come” and he comes. I say to my servant “do this” and he does it.” When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said tho those following him, “I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.” Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! It will be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that very hour.
— Matthew 8:5-10,13

The faith of the centurion is that of one who knows what it is like to be an earthly authority and to have his commands carried out. He gave himself in to Jesus heavenly authority and saw the miracle.

Keep asking and trusting. Be blessed

Today's Bible verse:

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
— Romans 8:28
